Well, student teaching is not really going any better. I can run a section, well, like it's my job. But put me in front of the whole band, and I fall apart. I talk with my teacher, we plan, I think I understand, I get in front of the band, and oops, well I didn't.

I have no problem taking the criticism from my cooperating teacher. However, there is an assistant there, and she seems quite determined to prove to someone that she knows more than me. Of course she does!!! She's been teaching for 5 years, I'd hope that she knows more than me. I'd be afraid if she didn't. That is also a awkward situation. And tomorrow she gets her chance to criticise away, cause she's going to be observing me so that my teacher can work with the percussion. I'm glad he's working with them, but I'm not sure that I like the idea of her observing me!

Oh well, here goes nothing...

All right, so I was having a not so great day, if you didn't notice by the previou post. However, a dinner of rice and cream of chicken soup (mmmmmm), a new Wynton Marsalis CD and Grease playing on HBO have combined to brighten my day. Mostly it was the CD (it's really a fun cd) but the others helped too. Anyway, have a great night!

This student teaching thing just constantly leaves me feeling clueless. I'm always being asked questions that I have no idea what the answer to them might be. I really just feel kinda dumb. The kids ask me questions I can't answer, and so does my cooperating teacher. I mean, I know that's why I'm there, but I always feel stupid. Today after school I was helping a kid work on his sax solo, and my teacher came up and took over, and at that point I realized that I wasn't exactly teaching him the best way possible. It was the best way I could think of, but who knows. Anyway, I'm just frustrated and feeling clueless. Everyone keeps saying that I'm going to be a great teacher, but I really don't feel like it right now.

Well, I've been teaching for 2 weeks, and today was my second snow day. All though, this one was the dumbest snow day I've ever had, we really could have had school, but oh well!

And I'm finally officially registered for student teaching!! It's a very exciting thing!!!

The student that I was talking about in the previous post is the student teacher, not the student that is being taught. (I read my post and realized that it wasn't very clear at all.

Guess what, I'm getting one of the perks of student teaching tomorrow.... A SNOW DAY!! I actually danced around my living room for a minute when I got the call from my cooperating teacher. This is so happy!!!!

Student teaching is interesting, and a great way to make students realize that they don't know much of anything...

But all in all I think it's going pretty all right. It's interesting, I can say that much about it.

On a very different random note... I hate when my neighbors smoke and then the heat in my apartment kicks on. It pulls smoke in from outside and smells awful!! I hate it!
