Life is just a bowl of cherries, even if you get a rotten one sometimes.
In short, the day began bad, got much better, and then much worse again. It kinda ran full circle I guess.
I woke up really late, and didn't have my keys, but didn't realize it until I went downstairs which was right about when Ryan called. So he ran the keys over so that I could go to work. So I hurried as best I could to get there and was half an hour late. Not bad I guess, since I got up and left an hour and a half late. But I really said I would be early today, my pseudo-boss doesn't believe that I can get there on time, and I really would like to. I hate walking past everyone in their cubicles 10 minutes late! Anyway...
Work was boring. More filing, but I'm getting paid I guess. Lunch gave me more time to work on this.
Came home, had a nice dinner, and went to get free ice cream. Well, that didn't work out. There was a line around the front of the store, so Ryan and I went to Dairy Queen instead.
I'll spare you the rest of the mundane details...
On the bright side, the WEMU fundraiser was a blast! I'm going back tomorrow to answer phones again. It was so great! The DJ said everyone's names a ton, and I even sparked a conversation about horn jazz. It was fun. Mu Phi should really do that every time the pledge drive happens!
That's about all, well, except I hope everyone digs the new look!! Let me know! (Marcus, is that better??)
Time to go to sleep! Goodnight!

Free ice cream at Baskin Robbins on wednesday night!
INCOHERENT
So on my way to work this morning I remembered something that happened yesterday. I was over at Ryan's and had fallen asleep. When I woke up, either on my own, or he woke me it was 11:30, and I remember thinking that I really had to go home, cause I had a ton of stuff to do before I came to work today. Something like printing music out, I don't really know, I just remember that is was I must have sounded like I was out of my mind.
Like my two color title?
I found a neato html code blog. I swear, I had all this fun on my lunch hour.

I'd love to work on yet another spreadsheet
I'm realizing that there is really no way that I could be happy working in an office. All day long, at the same desk, looking at the same computer screen working on virtually the same things.
I've also decided that I am going to live fairly close to where I work, or maybe just have more than one good route to get there. Cause it stinks when half the roads you try to go down in the morning are dead stopped. I also figure I'd like to not leave the house more than like 30 or 40 minutes before I have to be there. I really can't stand to drive much further early in the morning.
Ok, I'm done whining. Goodnight.

Graduation day
Played at commencement all day. The first one was great! I got to see Ryan and everyone graduate. I think it finally started to sink in that he's done. I'm so proud of him! I really wish there was something more I could have done to show him this. He's always got the most wonderful things to say whenever I do something that he's proud of, and he always knows just what to do. I always end up wishing I could have done more for him. Well, when you read this, Happy Graduation!
Happy Graduation to everyone that I know that graduated today. You will all be sorely missed around here. Everybody else is working hard to fill the huge shoes that you've all left behind. We've got a lot to live up to.
Time to go to work tomorrow, I really don't like working there, it's really mindless, and just makes me hate going, but they pay me well so I guess I'll keep going. I just really don't like making copies, and doing all of the work that no one wants to do.
Sorry if I ruined anyone's special day. I can't read minds, if there's something that I should know, please tell me rather than figuring I know, cause I don't always figure it out. Good night.

Lazy
Man do I feel lazy. I feel like I haven't done anything since Thursday, I mean I have cause I got tons done on my scrapbooks, cleaned the apartment, did pilates, practiced, and such, but I still feel like I haven't done anything. I guess that's ok, I start work on Monday, and then I'll really want to sit around and do nothing, so I guess this is alright.
Marcus - Thanks in advance for doing that study! I'm glad someone more than understands!!

School's Out For Summer...
Had my last final today. I think it all went well, I hope it all went well. The band arranging final was the longest final I've ever taken. It took the full hour and a half, and he even gave us ten minutes after that. I've never just wanted to be done with something so badly in my entire life.
School being done means tour is almost here! I can't believer it's that time already. Just over a month till I leave.
Last weekend we went to pub 13 and there was a group of girl's from Eastern's swim team at the table next to us. Seeing them there, having fun made me realize that I really want a group of girls to hang out with. Like a close group of girlfriends, that live in this state. I realized that that was one thing that I loved about this summer, the horn chicks. There were the 5 mello girls, and more specifically me, Loni and Christy that were always together, and I loved it. I really wish I could find something like that here, but it seems like everyone is already segregated in to groups, and has been for a while. I guess I should have come to this realization a while ago. Oh well, the summer and my girls will be here soon enough!
And for the record, I hate hearsay. I won't call it rumors, cause rumors spread, hearsay is more facts that are reported to you that are not sensational enough to spread, but still are annoying. That is all I have to say about that.

This week from hades is over
Not fun, too much work. I didn't practice enough for my lesson, so I really sucked it up on my scales, and have another lesson next week. I actually almost started crying during my lesson, which I've never ever even thought about happening. This was not fun.
My boss in the music office proceded to tell me about how I got all of the music events information out a week later than it should have been out, which I could accecpt, except that every week I was waiting for her to get part of the infomation required to send out the letter to me.
Oh well, whatever, on a much lighter note, I found a kinda funny site, check it out
Ok, I'm gonna stop wallowing in my crappy afternoon, and go over to Ryan's. Later

Grrrrrr...
I am tired of big lumped in with rude people!! Today was the screening conducting day in Winds. This means that everybody getting ready to student teach in a semister or two conducts the band on a piece that they've been studying. It's the end of a three part exam. It's really a big deal, and pretty nerve racking since many of the people only get one shot at this before it's their semister to student teach. If you don't pass, you have to stay around an extra semister until you pass the tests. I think I've explained this decently, now on with my story...
Two of the people in my section proceded to talk all the way through this, even about the people that were conducting. So everyone that got done conducting walked out in the hall and complained to all of the other people screening that 'the horns were talking' and 'how are you supposed to cue the horns if they're not paying attention?' Wait a minute, I'm one of the horns! and I certianly wasn't talking. The one time I was it was to calm down someone who had gotten really upset over nothing, though it did no good and I just got told about how awful one of my good friends is. I'm tired of being put in the category of one of the horns who are always causing problems. I'm tired of my reputation being brought down by something I have little to no control over. I've learned to ignore them, but since I sit in between them somehow I'm guilty too.
I'm done ranting.
So tired...
Saturday I did homework all day. I was a good kid and even stayed home from a movie to work on homework. This marks like the first time that I've forced myself to just get crap done. Maybe it was cause I knew better things were to come...
Pub 13!! It was so much fun. I can't wait to go back, Adam said that he would pay the $35 to get Ryan up on stage at a piano. Maybe this could lead to a job? It was a riot, and Kid Rock was there. Well, not the real Kid Rock, but this guy that looked like the love child of him and Bobcat Goldthwait. Autumn and I could not stop laughing when we looked at this guy.
This morning I woke up a little late, and found out that 7 POW's had been rescued!! That made me smile. Then, while at the choir concert, I found out that once again, Don was not deployed from his training weekend. I guess I get to make a big scene when I see him on Tuesday.
I played in the choir concert today. I think it went pretty well, though a bit scary. I never really was 100% sure of where we were cause the conductor of the choir is really hard to follow. Before we started the piece, he dedicated it to all of the troops over in Iraq. He was so close to losing it up on stage, it really was something to see.
I'm gonna get to bed now, I think the 3 nights of being a 'regular' college student and going out at night are catching up on me. Night!!

Good Times
Tonight was fun. Went out with John and Jen. Got to talk to Taylor in Alabama. Finally ended up at Aubree's with a whole bunch of people. (Adam, Tony, Jeff, John, Jen, Seth Jon's roommate, and his girlfriend Carrie, Sarah and her friend Emily) It was fun, we all agreed that we need to go out and just have fun more. Kind of a random group of people at first, but it was great. And Jeff left his phone number for the waitress. He said he'd never done it before and that he'd been single way too long.
I realized a few things this week. A.) I get too stressed out, and that when this happens sometimes I just need to tell someone. This someone usually ends up being Ryan. It makes me feel better to just get it out, to simply say what is bothering me, but I feel like it really brings him down. Mostly cause what I am stressing about is negative, and he is the most positive person I know. I need to work on that. B.) When people get upset, it is not always my fault. Sometimes they are just tired, or one of a trillion other things has happened to them that is making them stressed out. Or maybe not stressed, maybe some other emotion, but you get what I mean. C.) I need to not spread myself too thin, or else stress happens, and then A (see above) happens. If I spread myself too thin, I can't be as good at the things that I am doing as I'd like to be. D.) I have the most wonderful boyfriend in the world. Ryan takes all of me. When I'm being calm and normal, to when I'm freaking out about the unnecessary, to when I'm just being downright crazy and strange. All while he's got a million more real things to deal with. He is definately one of the most wonderful human beings that I know, and I would say this even if I were not in love with him. I hope whatever he decides to do next year makes him happy, because he deserves pure happiness. I also hope that he doesn't settle. He can go so far, and I hope that he knows that. I hope he understands how great he already is. One day, he is going to be famous. Instead of studing scores by people like Frank Ticheli, college classes will be looking at his work in awe. I know I do.

Wow...
The orchestra concert was tonight. It was great!! After yesterday's not so great (ok, at times, flat out bad) rehersal, it was so great to see Mr. Miller smile on the podium, and the standing O that happened after Pictures was finished. It was such a rush.
Today's weather was wonderful! I actually walked around in a tank top. This after Monday morning's snow storm. I'll never understand Michigan weather.
About to head out to Pub 13, the piano bar near campus. Everyone says that it is just great. Should be fun. G John just called, so I'm gonna go!

Bowling
I had forgotten how much fun bowling was. It's cheap, and everyone gets into it! It was great. I even got the highest score the second game, 136. As you can see, none of us were great bowlers. Anyway, that's about it. Night!

On the Bright Side
I didn't have any classes today because of the snow. All of my prof's were either late, or didn't come in. It was nice.
I think that one of the coolest jobs in the world would be to be a studio musician. Getting to play for movie soundtracks, cartoons, whatever! I think it would be great. Or being a broadway musician. I think I'll keep practicing before I show up at any auditions. Practicing for like 10 more years, maybe that'll be enough. Maybe...
What the @#&*?
Can anyone tell me why there is three inches of snow on the ground, and more on it's way??? I mean, I love snow and all, but it's April!!
I really miss Southwind, I hope camp went well.

Recital and the rest of the weekend
My recital rocked. Well, at least I think so, and that's all that really matter. Well, that and what Dr. Z thought, but seemed pretty happy with it. Overall, it went well.
Saturday, we went over to the Lewis residents, in Howell. It was fun, and had tons of good food as usual. Marcus met us up there. I felt kinda bad, I had made stew during the day, and Mrs. Lewis (Diane I guess, I just feel funny saying that for some reason) made a huge dinner as usual. It was a mini-thanksgiving. The part that I felt bad about was that Ryan didn't want to tell me that his mom had made food, and we weren't going home to eat what I had cooking. He was afraid I'd be upset. I wonder what I've done in the past to make him think that I'd really be upset by something like that. Anyway, dinner was good, so it really didn't matter in the end.
This morning, I woke up and played my horn all day long. 12:30 was alumni band rehersal, 2:00 was the recording session, then 4:00 was the concert, which ended around 6. After dinner with my parents (yes, J.L Hudson did one have a car company), I had rehersal for my gig on Easter Sunday. ($350!!!!!) I don't want to touch my horn until sometime late tomorrow. Maybe not at all, my wrists are kinda bothering me a bit. If anyone knows how to make carpal tunnel magically dissappear, just give me an email. Oh, and don't just tell me to stop playing, cause that's really not going to happen. However, I am going to stop typing. G'night!

Recital Mania!
Tom's recital tonight was great. He's such an incredible trumpet player. So is his dad. It was definately one of the better recitals I've seen since I've been here.
Hopefully mine, tomorrow in Pease at 8 p.m. will be as sweet. I think I'm gonna do well. I know the pieces really well, and feel pretty confidant about it. It should be pretty good. Just so long as I keep my nerves in check.

Dress Rehersal Night
I think it went pretty well, I mean I got most of the notes, and Tom said that from the audience it sounded good. In fact he was 'impressed.' Hopefully Friday will go just slightly better, I mean I played in front of 6 people tonight, what's another 20?
It's time for me to go to sleep, I have to get up and take a test in soc. tomorrow morning. I can't decide if I like this class. I mean on the up side, I really don't have to go very often cause the tests are open book and all of the answers are there in bold print. I have an A in the class. On the downside, I really don't like going, it's just not very interesting most days. Only 2 weeks left!!!
Music Must be Felt and Not Simply Heard
I'm realizing that in order to play the music for my recital well, I have to feel it. Otherwise, it's just notes that are meaning less. I think music is 80% about the meaning or feeling that you attach to it. Why is your favorite piece or song your favorite? Probably cause it makes you feel something. So, that's my goal for my recital, to put my nerves aside and just feel the music. I figure if I'm nervous, my audience will be too since most of them will know me, and I'd hope that they'd be wishing the best for me. So, maybe I can make them feel something, besides sleepy that is....
And in other news, the GAP at Briarwood mall has closed. Don't try to go there to exchange anything, cause it's not there as I found out today. I'm not very happy about this...
*Shameless Plug*
Come to Julie Guenther and my Junior Recital
This Friday in Pease at 8 p.m.
It'll be short and sweet!!!
